There are many things that go into planning a vacation, so many in fact that it can be a bit overwhelming as we try to sort through all the various factoids and activities, figuring out what’s important and a must see, what you’d be curious to see if there is time, and planning all the smaller aspects like travel, where to go, etc. However, when we are going to a new place, especially when it’s a climate with which you might not be familiar, it can be difficult to know what to keep in mind or where to start. We understand this, so we’ve gone ahead and put together a list of the things that you should keep in mind when planning your Scottsdale vacation to this wonderful desert oasis!
Keep an Eye on the Weather
While it is true you won’t be needing to look out for things like last-minute blizzards or cold snaps that will have you waking up in a living snow globe, it’s a good idea to check the weather for the opposite reasons. Remember, you’re in a desert that hardly sees any rain and where the temperature can reach the triple digits in summer. For this reason, it’s a good idea to check the forecast to make sure your activity is suitable for such conditions. Many people have tackled Camelback Mountain, for instance, without properly checking the heat for the day. As well, during the tail end of summer, we experience our rainy season (monsoons).
Plan Ahead
Scottsdale and the surrounding Phoenix area are very large, and for that reason, there is an untold number of things one can do to enjoy their time here. Make sure you check out a Scottsdale travel guide for all things that one can do that the city offers. After all, there is nothing worse then discovering some fantastic activity, but realizing there isn’t enough time to fit it in amongst the other events and plans for the day. For instance, Fashion Square Mall is extremely large, and a sightseeing trip there can easily take the entire day due to the sheer number of shops, including a multi-story Macy’s.
Plan for Travel
While not quite the same level as New York City or Los Angeles, the area is well known to have congested traffic at certain times, and many people find themselves stuck in gridlock for far longer than they’d like. For this reason, don’t wait until the last minute to leave for your occasion, and during rush hour make sure you leave plenty of time to get where you need to go. Some people find it easier to just take a cab, Uber, or bike or walk to your destination; those staying in Old Town will be quite near the best attractions, after all! You also can save quite a bit of money this way.
Of course, there are several other factors that go into a Scottsdale vacation and ensuring that all goes smoothly.
